“Chance favors the prepared mind.”

As you weave your way through the landscape, take the opportunity to slow down and to have a mindful experience. Badlands National Park offers spectacular photo-ops to decorate your home and social media accounts, but they won’t mean much if that’s all you can take away from the experience.

With a national park nearby and over 15 years of educational, travel and retreat-planning experience, I’m pleased to guide curious minds seeking more than selfies.

Free Badlands Overlook Notes

Over twenty places to stop can result in “viewpoint fatigue,” so use these notes to customize your visit. After determining your route, consider printing these notes ahead of time or at least downloading them to your device as cell reception can be spotty.

‘Badlands Retreat’ Guide Booklet

Coming in June 2021

This booklet provides a short reflective experience for each of the main loop road overlooks. Available in print and digital formats. In exchange for feedback, previewers can access the booklet for free at the end of May.

Personal Experiences

While on Semester at Sea in college I took a literature of travel course. Reading folks’ stories about the places I’d be visiting shaped a unique perspective when I actually arrived that expanded what I could have experienced on my own. Here I share three very different sets of Badlands National Park memories.
